I am very pleased to welcome you to Year 4! My name is Mr Hayward and I am your child’s class teacher and I am supported by Mrs Haywood. Please feel free to speak to any member of the Year 4 team with any queries.
In Year 4, your child will continue to learn new concepts and acquire new vocabulary but will also be expected to begin to demonstrate their independence in all areas of the curriculum. He/she will be expected to begin to communicate his/her learning and explain the processes and strategies he/she uses. As well as this, your child must always be aware that the quality of his/her work is of main importance.
This page aims to help you to understand what your child will be learning and suggest helpful ways in which you can support him/her at home.
During Autumn 2 we will be continuing to develop our mathematical skills, looking at number and place value. We are currently reading 'Perry Angel's Suitcase' and will do some written work based around this text. In humanities we have finished looking at Roman Britain and we are now looking at Rivers. For Science we are moving on to Teeth and Digestion. For our artwork we are finishing the pop art topic and will now focus on a DT project using pneumatics. We are looking at how different people celebrate Christmas for RE and in Music we are continuing the great work we have started with Ukulele's and we will be getting onto playing some festive tunes.
