Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is internationally recognised, designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis.

In the same way as learning physical first aid, MHFA teaches people how to recognise those crucial warning signs of mental ill health and feel confident to guide someone to appropriate support. Embedding MHFA training within any organisation or community also encourages people to talk more freely about mental health, reducing stigma and creating a more positive culture

The Sandwell Well-being charter is a school's opportunity to commit to improving the mental health and well-being of everyone connected with the school. The findings proved that we are a community and work together for the best of all our pupils, families and staff.

  • The parent group commented that school staff are aware & have a sensitivity towards children's learning ability. described staff as being approachable and any task would be seen as important, honest.  One parent said 'it's not the building but it's the people in the building'.
  • The pupil group commented that they could approach school staff to help with any situation and felt valued and listened to.
  • Staff felt they were listened to and their own well-being cared for and opportunities were given for them to voice their opinions.

The Basic Skills Quality Mark is an award that celebrates and supports continuous improvement in literacy and numeracy

Our Music Mark Schools programme celebrates schools who are committed to providing a high-quality music education

The purpose of the Quality Mark for NQT induction is to set consistently high standards for induction that can be adopted by all schools.

These standards will encompass the statutory requirements for Induction set down by the DfE, but will also go beyond these, in the pursuit of the very best practice.  Schools that are awarded the Quality Mark will have made induction part of their drive for school improvement.
