We use an email-based system where parent/carers will be emailed after each first aid incident or if medication has been given. If a phone call home is required following an injury, this will also be conducted. It is vitally important that parents contact details are up to date in order for the school to contact you in case of an emergency.

At the bottom of all First Aid emails, there is some information about suspected concussion. If your child has had a head injury, please ensure you read this information - ukconcussionguidelines | First Aid Forms.
If any injury requires the child to be sent home, school will phone the first emergency contact on the child's record and still send the First Aid email also.
ALL medications MUST come through the office. It is incredibly dangerous to put medication into children's bags, so please ensure this is not done. School is able to issue medications which are prescribed only, and must be minimum of 4 times a day.
A form must be completed by parents at the office prior to any medication being issued.

Did you know that the NHS Pharmacy First Service enables children and adults to get convenient access to healthcare advice and treatment where appropriate, for seven common conditions without the potential delay of having to wait for a GP appointment? Accessing the service may mean that we can help children feel better and get back to school as quickly as possible, as well as supporting parents/carers to also get better if they are unwell with one of the conditions covered under the service.
There is no need to make an appointment; parents or carers can pop into their local Boots pharmacy with their child and ask for help under the service.
Support for the following conditions can be accessed under the service, free of charge (unless NHS prescription charges apply):
| Common Condition | Patient eligibility |
|---|---|
| Earache | 1 to 17 years |
| Impetigo | 1 year and over |
| Infected insect bites/stings | 1 year and over |
| Sore throat | 5 years and over |
| Sinusitis | 12 years and over |
| Uncomplicated urinary tract infection | Women 16 to 64 years |
| Shingles | 18 years and over |
A video summary of the service can be found here and further information from the NHS website can be found here.
