Parent Governor Vacancy - 19th June 2024

Grace Mary Primary School is looking for a dedicated individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of our children.

Parent governors play an important role as members of the school’s governing body, which helps to set and review the school’s strategic direction and agree targets for improvement.  The governors are responsible for offering supportive challenge to the head teacher and school leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and help raise standards.  The governors also oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure the budget is well spent.

Governors do not need any formal qualifications but must be aged 18 years and over. The term of office is 4 years and the school has high expectations of the time and commitment required from its governors in order to fulfil their roles effectively.

School Governors work as a team and come from a wide variety of backgrounds. They make a positive contribution to our children’s education by offering their skills, expertise and time.

If you would like to stand for election please complete a nomination form below (or available from the school office) and return it to the school.

Applications must be from parents/carers with children at the school.  Parents/carers who have paid employment in the school or who are elected members of the Local Authority are not eligible to stand in these elections.

If there are more applications than vacancies, then there will be an election by secret ballot paper. Applicants will be invited to provide a brief statement of not more than 150 words giving reasons why they are standing and voting papers will be sent to all parents together with details of the ballot procedure.
