  • Upcoming roadworks at Burnt Tree Junction

    Mon 03 Nov 2025

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) would like all staff, visitors, and students at your school or college to be aware of upcoming roadworks at Burnt Tree Junction. We encourage everyone to plan their journeys to and from your site from 10 November 2025 to Summer 2026.

    What is happening?

Burnt Tree Junction is a busy road intersection in Dudley, where Birmingham New Road (A4123) crosses Birmingham Road and Dudley Port (A461).

During these highway works, traffic restrictions will be in place in various phases including:
    - Lane closures in both directions
    - Changes to bus stops, bus routes, and bus lanes
    - Installation of temporary traffic signals on the junction

For more information please visit our dedicated webpage www.tfwm.org.uk

    Travel Advice

TfWM has provided the following travel advice to help you and your staff navigate this disruption smoothly:
Plan ahead: Journey times will be increased so please allow extra time.
Consider alternative routes: Avoid travelling in the Burnt Tree junction area. Use routes around Dudley, Tipton, Oldbury, and West Bromwich. Consider using the motorway to travel to and from Wolverhampton and Birmingham.
Bus Services: Some bus journeys may be delayed, and bus stops may be relocated. Main affected routes include 74, 87, and 126. Please plan ahead and allow more time.
Cycling & Walking: For short local trips, consider walking or cycling.

  • Careers Week at Grace Mary Primary School – Empowering Year 5 and 6 for their bright futures

    Fri 04 Jul 2025

Careers Week was a fantastic adventure for our Year 5 and 6 pupils, full of discovery, imagination, and hands-on experiences that opened their eyes to the exciting possibilities ahead.

We kicked things off with a visit from the school nurses, who shared insights into their vital role in healthcare. We also welcomed a representative from Sandwell Leisure Trust, who taught the children CPR—an invaluable life skill that could one day help save lives. In the afternoon, pupils explored careers that sparked their interest, researched their chosen roles, and were interviewed by Mr Cains and Mrs Sturmey. To their delight… they got the jobs!

On Tuesday, Gary Smith from Birmingham City University visited to talk about university life and the wide range of courses available. His session gave our students a glimpse into their potential futures in higher education and ignited plenty of big dreams.

Thursday brought a buzzing double session packed with local professionals from a furniture business, a radiographer, Tempest Photography, a member of an orchestra, and many more fascinating fields. The children asked brilliant questions and loved hearing real stories from people passionate about their work.

Crown House Technologies visited on Friday, and their impact was electric! With decades of expertise in cutting-edge engineering and offsite construction solutions, they shared their world with our students—and it lit a spark. From inspiring stories to team building activities, they showed how exciting and meaningful a career in engineering can be.

Careers Week has truly inspired our pupils. They've had fun, explored ideas, and built confidence in imagining the paths their futures could take. We’re so proud of their enthusiasm and grateful to all our visitors for making the week so special.

  • National Writing Day - Wednesday 25th June 2025

    Wed 25 Jun 2025

On Wednesday 25th June, our year 3's, 4's and 5's took part in a live writing challenge to celebrate 'National Writing Day' with Pobble + Picture News!

We joined a special Pobble 365 Live Lesson to mark National Writing Day 2025 – a day dedicated to encouraging young people to write for fun, creativity, and self-expression.

This creative writing session was designed to inspire young writers. Pobble Co-founder Simon Blower and their special guest Katie Harrison from Picture News guided our pupils to produce a piece of writing they could be immensely proud of. They told us ton 'Expect engaging content, interactive challenges, and plenty of opportunities to get creative with words'...this was certainly true!

We are very pleased with what our pupils were able to create in such a short amount of time.
