Skills for Sandwell

Skills for Sandwell drop-in session held every Wednesday morning, 9.00 – 11.00am at Rowley Regis Family Hub, Dudley Rd, Rowley Regis, B65 8JY.

The skills for Sandwell programme can help residents find work, volunteer, improve IT skills, get the right benefits, access education and training plus providing advice and support.

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) received funding through the Capability and Ambition Fund and decided to use this funding to support schools with active travel through the provision of School Road Safety Signage (Parking Buddies). These are cheerfully designed bollards to warn drivers against inconsiderate parking.

Grace Mary took delivery of these today, and I think you can agree, look great!

The pretend pupils discourage cars from mounting the pavement or blocking crossing points to improve safety and visibility for the children and parents walking to the school gates.

By walking to school or parking a short walk away from the school gates, children are getting active rather than sitting in traffic, whilst the school and community benefits from reduced congestion and air pollution.

Grace Mary is also still an active participant in the WOW Walk to School challenge where the challenge rewards children who travel actively to school with collectable badges.

Theme Day - Eco Themed Menu - 14th January 2025

SIPS Catering are starting the year with an eco-themed menu, using locally sourced products. To support this theme day, they will also be running an eco-themed competition for both Key stage 1 and Key stage 2 with a Star on the Plate Prize Draw for each key stage. If a child finds a star on their plate they win a prize!

NHS Pharmacy First Service

Did you know that the NHS Pharmacy First Service enables children and adults to get convenient access to healthcare advice and treatment where appropriate, for seven common conditions without the potential delay of having to wait for a GP appointment? Accessing the service may mean that we can help children feel better and get back to school as quickly as possible, as well as supporting parents/carers to also get better if they are unwell with one of the conditions covered under the service.

There is no need to make an appointment; parents or carers can pop into their local Boots pharmacy with their child and ask for help under the service.

Support for the following conditions can be accessed under the service, free of charge (unless NHS prescription charges apply):

Infected insect bites and stings	1 year and over
Sore throats	5 years and over
Sinusitis	12 years and over

Cedar Sings at Christmas

Congratulations to Ceadr (Y5) for taking part in a live music event - 'Sandwell Sings At Christmas' - which was held at the Shireland CBSO Academy, West Bromwich.

They had lots of fun singing Christmas songs with lots of other schools in the area
